CHICAGO | August 1, 2016 Recently I was given the opportunity to appear on WBEZ 95.1 Chicago's Vocalo Radio show, The Barber Shop Show. Held in North Lawndale on the city's West Side, the Barber Shop Show focuses on issues facing communities that are often underreported in Chicago. I appeared because I'm participating in a project run by the Hyde Park Art Center, called Not Just Another Pretty Face, which pairs art collectors with artists for commissioned work. I'm working this summer with Bronzeville art collector extraordinaire Patric McCoy on a project rooted in reimagining the founder of Chicago, a black man of Haitian descent named Jean Baptiste Point Du Sable. Hear Patric, Deputy Director of the Hyde Park Art Center Hilesh Patel, and me discuss with host Richard Steele.
I appear in the second half of the show. Check out the story here. And feel free to share it with the hashtag #barbershopshow .
