November 13, 2015 | CHICAGO -- Tomorrow night at the Silver Room in Hyde Park, I'll be taking part in a showcase and performance featuring some of the most exciting young talent in the city. The performance list alone makes the night worthwhile. And it's free. Official information follows:
Chicago’s Strong Young Voices come together for We ’Go: A Chicago Showcase and Celebration. Presented by WHPK radio show and podcast AirGo, co-hosts Daniel Kisslinger and Damon Williams bring together a crew of musicians, poets, visual artists, rappers, and organizers in a showcase of the voices reshaping the culture of our city and our world. Cop limited physical copies of We ‘Go #1, a compilation mixtape showcasing months of on-AirGo poems and performances.
This event will not only be a showcase for AirGo guests who are propelling and shaping a cultural renaissance and social/political movements in the city, but also a community event that allows the public to engage, support and contribute to the work taking place at the intersection of arts & organizing. The event is free, but we will be taking donations to support the organizations and artists doing important work in Chicago and beyond.
Drinks will be available for grown folks.
Performers: Bella Bahhs Ethos Jean Deaux RJ Eldridge Rachel "Raych" Jackson Ric Wilson Jasmine Barber Malcolm London Kristiana Rae Colón Ravyn Lenae Musicians Lamar J. Smith, Ayinde Cartman, and DJ.
Also, in the spirit of fully covering the various range of expressions in this powerful moment in Chicago and world history (what moment in history isn't powerful, after all), AirGo released a recent mixtape of performances from the radio series they started earlier this year. Check it out:
